Excuse me, class comin’ through!

I finally saw Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in honor of my last night in the city until the fall. About damn time given how jazzed I’ve been about the show! (And the fact that it has the official Bette Midler stamp-of-approval, because clearly I just do whatever Bette Midler tells me to.)
I went in without critical eyes expecting a fun evening at the theatre…and that is, indeed, just what I received. Naughty, glitzy, sassy, dirty, silly, campy, sequin-y, ridiculous fun in musical form.
Additionally, Tony Sheldon is giving an incredible performance as Bernadette. And even though the odds are completely against him this year, I’m so belatedly glad he got a Tony nod. Werq, lady.
I’m one big ball of bittersweet tonight, as I finally move home for the summer tomorrow. But I had a wonderful last day in my city.
New York, it’s been so real. And so awesome. Not just in the time since I’ve started this blog, but for the past nine months and beyond.
Don’t go changing on me in the next three months, ya hear?

6/3 - 6/4

I slacked on posting yesterday, but the reason why yesterday and today have been awesome are one and the same: I’ve been working at my college’s reunion. Not only have I met some really amazing (and sweet!) alumnae, but the past few days have done nothing but serve to remind me how perfect of a fit this school is for me and how glad I am to have ended up here. It’s such a cliché, but the fact that the (amazing and totally inspiring) women in attendance here this weekend have come back to New York for their respective reunions time and time again over the years is - as silly as it sounds - such an indicator to the legacy that I, too, will be able to claim as my own when I graduate.
I love my school so much. Especially after my first year here, I can honestly say that I can’t picture myself anywhere else. And that is awesome.

Today, Jordana, Lilla, and I had lunch at an awesome little UWS restaurant (as per the urgent suggestion of a random woman on the subway) called Nice Matin before Lilla caught her train home. Being reunited was certainly most excellent while it lasted!

Lilla wants everyone to know that my day was awesome because she is currently sprawled out on my floor and gracing me with her presence.
Additionally, in light of her visit, tonight meant Kodama and Midnight in Paris (perhaps the loveliest move I have seen in ages). Perfect way to kick off June!

Not only did I finally go back to work today (I am really lucky to love my on-campus job as much as I do, and for as much as I enjoy it, I don’t talk about it on here nearly enough) and see some lovely people who I haven’t seen in weeks, but Jordana and I also had an even lovelier post-work dinner at Good Enough to Eat. And then we ventured down Columbus Avenue and sat in the grass at Lincoln Center. Lincoln Center - especially Lincoln Center at night - will forever be one of my favorite places in the entire universe. And even though my room is literally an un-airconditioned oven right now, it is truly awesome to be here (and, yes, I will say that time and time again, no matter how many times I’ve said it before).

Today was the last full day I knew I would have to just roam about the city (before work kicks in this week), so I went down to SoHo to a bookstore I’ve been meaning to go to and then bopped on over the to the South Street Seaport for the first time. It’s so gorgeous down there! I had originally planned to just have a quick look around to be able to say I’d been there, but I ended up claiming a spot facing the Brooklyn Bridge and sat there with a book for most of the afternoon with the breeze off the water blowing in my hair. It was lovely. And then after that I went and tried on some clothes and got Starbucks and sushi and it really just ended up being the most awesome, me-centric day.
I’m really going to miss days like these when I officially go home for the summer in a week.

Although (contrary to popular belief) I did do some things of importance with this Sunday, I have to say, the highlight has most definitely been the conversation that Lizzie and I have been having across various social networking sites this evening. What started as a silly conversation in our mutual ask boxes earlier tonight has morphed into a(n EVEN sillier, more awesome, and now-two-hour-long) thread on Facebook. And, despite what this screencap may lead you to believe…it has been pretty. damn. quality.

I finally saw Anything Goes today, and:
1) That “Anything Goes” dance break seriously makes me wish I knew how to tap.
2) I want Sutton Foster to be my best friend. And also go win a Tony.
3) THERE WAS AN ON-STAGE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL AFTER THE SHOW. Joel had everyone sit down after curtain call and he acknowledged the members of the military in the audience in honor of Fleet Week. Then Sutton brought one of them up onto the stage (this was obviously pre-planned/also, she went, “HI! I’m Sutton, nice to meet you!” …orly, Sutton) and he proposed to his girlfriend in front of the entire audience. Hands down the most adorable thing I’ve seen all year.
Awesome Saturday, if I do say so myself.

I checked my mailbox for the first time in a week today. And I had not one, but two pieces of mail (sometimes it’s the little things) with awesome surprises inside!

Blue Leaves round two tonight with Carina. Front row. BRING IT, FALCO.
Tonight, Carina and I saw House of Blue Leaves (second time my day is awesome thanks in part to this show, but I care not). Additionally, prior to this evening, I had a lovely day in Central Park with Dria, where we hung out at Catch Me If You Can’s softball game (Aaron Tveit existed and Kerry Butler stopped by with a popsicle and harbored extreme fascination for a butterfly that kept appearing), among various other UWS adventures!
